Germination: How to pop your magic beans?

We recommend new growers, old growers, professionals, armatures, your momma, and your granddaddy to use the paper towel method for germinating seeds. There is absolutely no need to complicate germination. This method is used by homegrowers and even large commercial operations. It is the most simple and tried n true method for seeds.

Supplies needed:

  • Cheapest paper towel roll
  • Zip lock bags or tupperware with a lid
  • Sharpie
  • Bowl of drinkable water
  • Your Magic Beans (seeds you wish to germinate)

Let's get Poppin'!

  1. Start by placing a piece of the paper towel in the bowl of water
  2. Gently wring out the paper towel. You want it damp, but not excessively dripping
  3. Lay the paper towel flat on top of the ziplock bag
  4. Place the Magic Beans you wish to pop in the middle of the paper towel
  5. Fold the paper towel enclosing your little beans. Once or twice will do the trick. The more times you fold it the more times you have to unfold it when the sprout is ready for the dirt. 
  6. Gently place the folded paper towel in the ziplock and close it half way
  7. With the Sharpie, write the name of the strain you put in the baggie
  8. Store the baggie in a cool dark place 60-75 degrees
    1. I keep mine with my undies drawer 
  9. Wait 2-14 days for germination.
  10. Check every 2-3 days for moisture levels. Keep adding drops off water if the paper towel becomes dry. You want the paper towel to stay damp the entire time. 
  11. Once your little bean has a sprout a inch or longer it's time for the Growing medium
  12. Use tweezers to gently grab your seed by the head, then place it in the medium tail down
